"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire," the latest installment in the MonsterVerse film franchise, topped the daily box office chart of the Chinese mainland on Saturday, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed. The monster film raked in 128.66 million yuan (about 18.13 million U.S. dollars) on its second day of release. Animated film "Kung Fu Panda 4" came in second with a daily box office revenue of about 19.12 million yuan, bringing its total earnings on the Chinese mainland to 230 million yuan after nine days of screening. It was followed by domestic romance "Viva La Vida," which raked in 14.31 million yuan on Saturday. The Chinese mainland's box office revenue on Saturday stood at 190.91 million yuan. |
